A little about me…
I am a Registered Dietitian and Certified Personal Trainer specializing in Paleo nutrition, fitness, and holistic wellness.
My current education and certifications include:
- Master’s Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, and Health Promotion from Mississippi State University
- Bachelors degree in Nutritional Science with an emphasis in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay
- Certified Personal Trainer (NASM)
- Completed a certification program in Whole Health Education ® from the National Institute of Whole Health
I have over 2 ½ years of experience working in the product development and food labeling departments of a large private label food manufacturing company. Therefore, I understand the complexities and composition of today’s typical packaged foods. I appreciate the fact that the Paleo eating style emphasizes foods that contain single to minimal ingredients and are “clean.”
My background also includes experience in worksite wellness helping a diverse group of individuals reach their short and long term nutrition goals. While I acknowledges nutrition and fitness as key targets in overall health and performance, my emphasis in psychology allows me to fully understand the various psychological and environmental factors that are involved in motivating individuals.
I am currently a consultant dietitian for Robb Wolf and am part of Robb’s Paleo RD Network. The goal of this network is to educate nutrition professionals about the Paleo lifestyle as an alternative to traditional dietary guidelines. I attended the 2011 ADA FNCE in San Diego, California with Amy Kubal to speak with students and nutrition professionals about Paleo concepts and help dispel common myths.
I’ve helped clients with a wide range of nutritional needs enhance their athletic performance, improve their mental and physical health, and make positive lifelong eating and exercise behavior changes. These individuals range from those new to fitness all the way to United States Marines. My personal mission is to empower individuals to realize their inner greatness through education, fitness, and nutrition. Nutrition is not an all or nothing concept and there will always be room to tweak your routine. With the right frame of mind and creativity, food can be a passion and not a struggle.
